Jacob Mandell graduated summa cum laude from Messiah College, where he received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Music Education, fulfilling a double concentration in voice and saxophone studies, with additional studies in conducting. There, he participated in several of the college’s vocal and instrumental ensembles, and was also named the Presser Scholar for the 2016-2017 year. Jacob currently teaches in the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District, where he teaches choruses grades 5 – 8, 5th/6th grade general music, and 5th grade instrumental lessons. In addition to his responsibilities at PO, Jacob is also involved with Front and Centre Productions, where he has been music director for the IGNITE Youth Theatre program, and is now the artistic director for the IMPACT Preparatory Choir and Children’s Chorale. As a performer, Jacob has appeared as a professional soloist and chorister all over Pennsylvania. He has recently been seen in both of these roles with the critically-acclaimed Susquehanna Chorale, the Central Pennsylvania Oratorio Singers, the Messiah College Choral Arts Society, and the St. Tikhon’s Monastery and Seminary Choirs. Jacob is an active member of the National Association for Music Education, the American Choral Directors Association, and Chorus America.
